PROCEDURE OF RW MANAGEMENT

Process of solidification of waste using several compounds (bitumen, cement, glass,

ceramic, aluminium, synRoc) should include consideration of the following characteristic

i. Mutual compatibility (waste, matrix, and container)

ii. Homogeneity
iii. Low leach ability and permeability

iv. Stability for required period

v. Resistance to external agents
vi. Restriction of material which can react to produce explosive gases

vii. Other material that can cause chemical hazards such as chelating agents, organic

liquids, oil and salts

viii. Container to provide require shielding
ix. Materials to provide for easy decontamination

x. Consideration of an over pack for coverage of individual containers which do not

meet the safety requirements
