Safe Handling of Nuclear Gauges and X-Ray Analyzers
Calibration:
▪ Calibration is needed because measurements are made in relative values.
▪ It is important to use good accuracy and sensitivity instruments for measurement of
radiation and personnel exposure.
▪ The instrument should be calibrated at a recognised calibration centre.
▪ It is important to check on validity of the calibration certificate before using the
instrument.
▪ The instrument should be sent for re-calibration once it is expired.
▪ The calibration factor should be used in order to get the actual reading of exposure or
dose of the radiation measured.
