Safe Handling of Nuclear Gauges and X-Ray Analyzers

▪ The area should be classified into Clean, Supervised and Controlled

▪ Clean Area: Area where the expected maximum dose does not exceed the Annual dose limit of the
public

▪ Supervised Area: Work area for which the occupational exposure conditions are kept under review

even though specific protective measures and safety provisions are not normally needed.

▪ Control Area: Work area where specific protection measures and safety provisions are or could be

required for controlling normal exposures or preventing the spread of contamination during normal

working condition, and preventing or limiting the extent of potential exposures.
