X-ray Analyzers
▪ X-rays will be diffracted/reflected by the materials/crystals only if they satisfy the
following relationship:
sin = n sin - angle of incident to the target material
2d d - inter-atom spacing of the lattice
- x-rays wavelength and
n - an integer
▪ The scattered X-rays are then measured to indicate the lattice pattern of the material
and this form the basic principle of X-rays diffraction (XRD).
▪ A crystal lattice is a three dimensional of atoms in space. The crystal structure could be
either cubic, rhombic, etc.
