Objectives of Emergency 7

• To reduce the risk or mitigate the consequences of the

accident at its source.

• Prevent serious deterministic health effects (e.g.,

death), and

• Reduce the likely stochastic health effects (e.g.

cancer) as much as reasonably achievable.
