PRACTICAL
SCENARIO 1
Two radioactive sources: Sr-90 and Cs-137 is transported by MMTC Sdn Bhd from the airport to its office in Johor
Baharu. During the journey, suddenly an accident happened. The container carrying the sources is thrown out of
the vehicle on the road. The driver, immediately reports the accident to the supervisor in charge and the
Radiation Protection Officer (RPO), to investigate.
The RPO of the company, with the help of two assistants, Assistant RPO 1 and Assistant RPO 2 are expected to do
the following;
1. Collect the necessary equipment to be brought along to the area of the accident
2. Carry out the proper procedures and action to recover the sources
3. Check and ensure the area affected is safe for the public before leaving the area.
