Nuclear Gauging System
The most common radiation detectors used are ionization chamber and GM
detector:
▪ Both are rugged, stable and relatively inexpensive.
▪ Both can be used with practically all types of radiation sources i.e. alpha, beta,
gamma, x-rays and neutrons sources.
▪ GM detectors are good for low counting rate because of its high dead time.
▪ Ionization chambers are good for high counting rate because of lower
sensitivity.
