INTRODUCTION

öRadiation emergency may be defined as any situation which

gives rise to an abnormal or unexpected radiation hazard to

workers.

öEmergency occurrence and situation is unplanned and largely

unpredictable

öIt may lead to personnel exposure, contamination or both

öTo reduce the level of unpredictability in an emergency

response, a comprehensive and operational emergency plan

and procedure must be in place.

öBesides reducing the impact of an emergency, an emergency

plan and preparedness are required to help return the

emergency state to normal.
