➢ Response Action

i. On discovery of fire, immediately call the Fire Department

ii. Make an immediate attempt to extinguish the fire or prevent it from

spreading by means of fire-fighting devices available

iii. Shut down equipment and stop work

iv. Remove flammable solvents, records or equipment not yet affected by

fire

v. When fire crew arrives, the Shift or Area Supervisor or working group

leader should give advice to fire crew on whereabouts of radioactive

materials and on the proper handling of the materials

vi. Besides the normal fire-fighting clothing the fire crew should be provided
as appropriate with other protective clothing to minimize contamination

or exposure
