• Deviation from the state of equilibrium normally occurs whenever there is

a chemical separation.

• E.g.: During monazite processing to obtain are earth element.

• Thoria cake: U-238, U-235, U-234, Th-234, Th-232, Th-230, Th-228

• Lead cake: Ra-224, Ra-226, Pb-212 and Pb-210
