Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS)

• Caused by acute high dose exposure (> 0.5 Sv) to the whole body.

• Usually due to external exposure.

• ARS is divided into three types:

▪ Bone Marrow Syndrome;

▪ Gastrointestinal Syndrome; and

▪ Central Nervous System Syndrome.
