Standard deviation
• A large σ indicates that the data points are far from true value
• A small σ indicates that they are closely around the true value
• Example 0, 0, 14, 14 0, 6, 8, 14 6, 6, 8, 8
Mean = 7 7 7
σ = 7 5 1
• σ tells us how far is the data from the true value
• It will have the same units as the data points.
