Principles of ion-chamber

• Radiation enters the tube

• Interacts with the gas

• Electrons are removed from the gas.

• The gas atoms become positively charged ions

• The free electrons move through the gas induce electric current.

• The current is commonly amplified and sent to a recording or

counting device as dose reading.
