TENORM - Large volume wastes with low specific activity released from several
industrial activities such as:
• Minerals mining
• Oil and gas
• Beneficiation and chemical processing of ores. Extraction and purification of
trace elements.
Some industrial practices involving natural resources concentrate these radionuclides to
a degree that they may pose risk to humans and the environment if they are not
controlled.
