Basic principles and techniques
▪ Nuclear gauging is a technique for:
−Checking, testing, inspection, processing and manufacturing a
product
▪ When radiation passes through a material, it loses energy and partly
absorbed.
▪ The amount absorbed depends on:
–Thickness, atomic number and density of the material.
–Energy of the radiation.
