• Somatic effects – radiation damage appears in the

exposed individual which can be:-

• Deterministic effect (early effect/non-stochastic effect)

• Stochastic effect (late/long term effect)

• Hereditary / genetic effect – manifest in the

offsprings of the exposed person as a result of

radiation damage to the reproductive organs or the

gonads
